Assa Ashuach (1969)

Biography

Assa Ashuach (b. Israel 1969) is founder of London based Assa Studio Limited and 3D software house Digital Forming Limited. He has worked with major companies including Nike, Samsung, Panasonic, IDEO, Vodafone, Amazon and the UK Home Retail group. He is also a visiting lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture and has taught at the RCA and Central Saint Martins. During the years 2007-2016 Assa was the MA Course leader of the Cross-Disciplinary MA Design Suite and a research fellow at Sir John Cass School of Art, Architecture & Design in London. He has been at the forefront of exploring the creative potential of additive manufacturing (3D printing) since 2003, with the launch of one of the World’s first mass market 3D print products in 2004. By 2007, his designs were integrating sensors and AI with bio-inspired mechanisms and forms to produce award winning work and high profile gallery shows and exhibits, including at the Design Museum and Science Museum. Assa’s most recent work was done in collaboration with Kyoto University D-Lab’s macromolecular and bio-material scientists, which has resulted in systems demonstrating radical manufacturing efficiencies.
