The Artist's Table with Lynette Yiadom-Boakye, 12 March 2018

We are very pleased to announce that £90,000 was raised at the Artist’s Table with Lynette Yiadom-Boakye on 12 March 2018, hosted by Contemporary Art Society Trustee Emma Goltz at Corvi Mora Gallery in Kennington. Attendees at the event included Maria Balshaw, Contemporary Art Society director Caroline Douglas, Tommaso Corvi Mora, Emma Goltz, Linda Keyte, Valeria Napoleone, Duro Olowu, Julia Peyton-Jones, Hugo and Silka Rittson-Thomas, Maria Sukkar, Jackson Tang and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye.

Yiadom-Boakye generously produced a stunning new etching as an edition of 30, which were made available exclusively to guests and sold during the evening. She also treated guests to a reading of texts by Shakespeare, James Baldwin, Charles Baudelaire, and herself, in collaboration with actors Jennie Lathan and Chris Machari.

Jackson Boxer of Brunswick House and the Chess Club cooked a bespoke dinner of lamb, burrata and winter rhubarb for 90 guests, whilst a selection of biodynamic wines were specially provided by Yiadom-Boakye’s gallerist Tommaso Corvi-Mora from one A wines, his newly opened shop devoted exclusively to natural wines.  Flowers were curated by The Tuk Tuk Flower Studio.

The Artist’s Table is a series of tailored experiences hosted by an internationally recognised collector and an artist of their choice. Each artist has a special relationship with the Contemporary Art Society and has a unique approach to this opportunity for collectors to have an in-depth experience of their world. So far these have included Antony Gormley, Isaac Julien, Goshka Macuga, Haroon Mirza, Conrad Shawcross and John Stezaker.

All funds raised will go toward the acquisition of important new work by contemporary artists for the Contemporary Art Society’s 70 Museum Members across the UK.
