William Edward Greengrass (b. St. Saviour's, Jersey 1992 - d. 1971) [according to older authorities, born in 1896 at High Wych, Hertfordshire - died 1970] studied linocut with Claude Flight (1881-1955) at the Grosvenor School of Modern Art between 1925 and 1928, became a civil servant, working at the Victoria & Albert Museum, from the early 1930s until the Second World War. He worked principally in linocut and wood-engraving and concentrated on the depiction of movement, especially sport.
