Biography
Bill Furlong (b. Woking, UK 1944) together with curator Barry Barker produced the Audio Arts (1973-2007), a magazine for contemporary art on cassette tape, which he describes as "a primary medium and ‘space’ for the articulation and dissemination of debate, theory and practice in relation to contemporary art." Over 30 years Audio Arts became an unprecedented archive of recordings made with over 300 of the best known contemporary artists, musicians, curators and critics. The collection of material was aquired by Tate archive in 2004. He was professor at the Wimbledon School of Art, London. He has exhibited widely nationally and internationally, recently in, See This Sound, at the Lentos Museum in Linz, Austria, in the Laure Genillard Gallery London and the de La Warr Pavilion Bexhill on Sea. His book, Speaking of Art was published by Phaidon in April 2010.
