Wilfrid Ariel 'W. A.' Evill (1890 - 1963)

Biography

W. A. Evill (b. 1890 - 1963), a London solicitor, was a Contemporary Art Society Committee Member (1947-1957) who had gifted two works in 1943 and was an elected buyer for the Contemporary Art Society between 1946 and 1956, purchasing 26 works. His collection of 117 paintings and sculptures, sold for over £41 million at Sotheby’s, 16 June 2011 after the death of his inheritor and ward, Honor Frost (1917-2010). He lived in London at 39 Eton Avenue, NW3 and had offices on Welbeck Street, W1.
