

Walter Constant Renerus Vaes (b. Borgerhout, Belgium February 12 1882 – d. Antwerp, Belgium April 4 1958), having spent his early years in Liverpool, studied art with his uncle Piet Verhaert (1852-1908) and from 1900 at the Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp under Albrecht De Vriendt (1843-1900). He won the Rome Prize in 1904.
