Sue Arrowsmith (1950)

Biography

Sue Arrowsmith (b. Manchester, UK 1968) studied textiles at Goldsmiths College, London (1990). She was a prize-winner in both the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition 20 in 1997 and the Natwest Art Prize, London in 1998, and in 2010 was Artist in Residence at the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, Connecticut, USA. She has had solo exhibitions since 1994 at Entwistle Gallery, London; Cold Spring, Entwistle Gallery (1997); Galerie Frahm, Copenhagen (1999);  Galerie Fahnemann, Berlin (2001);  Artist of the Day, Flowers Central, London and Galerie Hollenbach, Stuttgart, Germany (2004); Galerie allerArt, Blundenz, Austria (2009); and more recently The Courtyard Gallery, The National Botanic Garden of Wales, Carmarthen, 2011. In May 2016 Arrowsmith travelled to Meissen Porcelain in Germany to paint a limited edition number of vases for South London Gallery editions. She was also included in '5 Years at Heddon Street', Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, 25 November - 4 February 2017. In 2016, she had her first solo show in Switzerland, Waiting for the moon at Galerie Andres Thalmann, Zurich, 18 November - 14 January 2017. In 2018 Transference was held at Moca London with Mathew Weir and she opened her second exhibition with Purdy Hicks Gallery, London - We could dream this night away, 12 April until 7 May.  In 2019 she had her second exhibition, Let the wind blow through your heart in Zürich with Andres Thalmann Gallery and in 2020 she exhibited with Luca Tommasi, Natura Naturans  in Milan as wells as being included in Rebooting Nature in London with Purdy Hicks Gallery, London and in 2021 Arrowsmith had a solo show at Bvlgari, Zürich, Switzerland.
