Rushton Aust (1958)

Biography

Rushton Aust (b. Oxford, UK 1958) is a leading British artist who specialises in exuberant, large scale printed and painted textiles. He creates site specific, free-hanging textile structures in which the relationship between the elements of fabric, colour, image and setting is closely interlinked. In the last few years he has worked on a number of architectural commissions in public spaces, including schools, hospital and libraries. He has exhibited at the Contemporary Applied Arts Gallery, with The Banqueting Table in 1998 and again in 1999 and 2003. He taught with Audrey Walker (1928-2021) at Goldsmiths' College, London (now Goldsmiths, University of London).
