Biography

Rosalind Iden (1911-1990), daughter of the theatrical couple Ben Iden Payne (1881-1976) and Mona Limerick (1882-1968) was also a British actress, who had acted since a child in Galsworthy's Foundations and in Algernon Blackwood's Through the Crack (with Ellen Terry, by then blind) and known for BBC Sunday-Night Theatre (1950) and This Is Show Business (1951).  She studied at the Margaret Morris School of Dancing, appeared in ballet for a number of years, and made her début as a Shakespearian actress as Ophelia in Donald Wolfit's production of Hamlet during his first London season at the Kingsway Theatre in February 1940She was married, as his third wife, to the actor Sir Donald Wolfit (1902-1968) between 1948 until his death.
