Robert Young (1938)

Biography

Robert Young (b. Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada 1938) lives and works in Vancouver. He received his BA in Art History at The University of British Columbia (1962) where he later went on to teach painting and drawing as an Associate Professor (1982-1998). He also received a Certificate of Merit from The City and Guilds of London School of Art (1964) and an Advanced Diploma in Graphics from The Vancouver School of Art (1966). Solo exhibitions include Lacunarian Picturing, Simon Frazer University, Burnaby, BC, Canada, and The Evergreen Centre, Coquitlam, BC, Canada (48 page illustrated catalogue), (2011); Robert Young, Winchester Galleries, Victoria, BC, Canada (2010); and Quotidian View, Burnaby Art Gallery, Burnaby, BC, Canada (70 page illustrated catalogue), (2009). Group exhibitions include Lights Out: Canadian Painting In The Sixties, Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver, BC, Canada (2012); Paint, The Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver, BC, Canada (2006-2007); Malaspina Printmakers at the Architectural Institute of BC, Vancouver, BC, Canada; and New Directions in Printmaking, Burnaby Art Gallery, Burnaby, BC, Canada (both 2006). His work is held in several public collections internationally including Tate, London, and Vancouver Art Gallery, Vancouver.
