Oliver Hall RA (1869 - 1957)

Biography

Oliver Hall (b. London, UK 1869 - d. Ulverston, Lancashire, UK 1957) studied at Royal College of Art (1887–90) and also at Westminster School of Art and Lambeth School of Art in the evenings and privately with Daniel Williamson and W L Windus. He was father of the painter Claude Muncaster. Hall travelled widely on the continent. Hall began exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1890, being elected RA in 1927 and Senior Academician in 1945. He also showed extensively at RWS, Fine Art Society, RE, Leicester Galleries and many other London venues, having his first solo show at Dowdeswell Gallery, 1898. Hall is represented in many public collections, including Tate and the Britsih Museum.
