Norman Janes (1892 - 1980)

Biography

Norman Janes (b. Egham, Surrey, UK 1892 - d. 1980) studied at the Slade school of Fine Art, the Central School of Arts and Crafts and the Royal College of Art. Exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Watercolour Society, New English Art Club, Society of Wood Engravers, Royal Society of Marine Artists and in provincial galleries and abroad. Two one-man shows were held at the Beaux Arts Gallery. He was married to the artist Barbara Greg [from Quarry Bank Mill, Styal, Cheshire] and lived in London. In addition to the British Museum, his work is held by the British Council, Museum of London and also in New Zealand and the USA.
