Neville Burston (1929 - 1999)

Biography

Neville Burston (1929-1999) was a Contemporary Art Society Committee Member (1974-6). In 1993 Mr and Mrs Neville Burston, keen supporters of the British Friends of Israeli Museums, presented the British Museum with a gift of 173 prints made at the Burston Graphic Center in Jerusalem, which they founded and supported for more than 15 years from 1975 onwards. Neville and Marlene Burston hoped that their gift might provide an incentive for others to help build, by gift in kind or money, a collection of Israeli prints in the British Museum.

The Neville Buston Award for Painting (2007-) at Goldsmiths, University of London is named in his honour.
