Biography
Michael Doherty (b. Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland, UK 1947) studied at Edinburgh College of Art (1964–8). After which an Andrew Grant Scholarship allowed him to travel in France and Spain. Docherty gathers found objects, which he paints and which together chronicle his travels. His first solo show at the Richard Demarco Gallery, Edinburgh (1970). He participated at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art's touring exhibition Scottish Art since 1900 (1989–90) and they have An Object Fixed in Time (1977) in their collection.
