Biography
Lucy Brown graduated in textiles at Goldsmiths’ University of London (1995) and was awarded a Crafts Council Setting up Grant in 1999. Her first major solo exhibition was Intimate Foundations which toured south east of England 2000-2001. Other exhibitions include Out of the Closet, Sotheby’s London; The Unexpected, Sotheby’s’ New York (2000); The Brides Clothes, Angel Row Gallery, Nottingham; Wearable / Unwearable, National Craft Gallery. Ireland (2005); Thread Bare, Rochester Art Gallery (2010); Flexible 2, Dutch Textile Museum Tilburg & European Tour; Merging Cultures, Merging Arts, National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (2004) and most recently, it’s what’s inside, lucybrownsarahpager DODO Gallery. Phoenix Art Space. Brighton (2021). Lucy Brown, who lives in Brighton, is currently an exhibiting and committee member of The 62 Group of Textiles Artists. Works are in both public and private collections including Nottingham Castles’ Contemporary Textile Collection, donated by the Contemporary Art Society; Brighton & Hove Museums Crafts Collection and Goldsmiths Constance Howard Centre for Textiles special collections.
