Biography
Joseph Syddall (b. Old Whittington, Chesterfield, UK 1864 - d. 1942) studied at the Herkomer Institute, Bushey, Hertfordshire and worked alongside his mentor, Sir Herbert von Herkomer (1849-1914), to illustrate Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the D’Urbervilles' for The Graphic magazine.
