Jonathan Mathew Boyd (1984)

Biography

Jonathan Mathew Boyd (b. Aberdeen, Scotland, UK 1984), a London and Glasgow-based jeweller had an exhibition, Thoughts between the Land and the Sea: Raising Doggerland (2020) which explored narratives of identity, language and otherness, politics and rising polarisation on a small and increasingly isolated island that the UK is becoming – or making itself. Boyd designed the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Medals and lead designer for the pins and packaging and recently the new RCA Chancellors Circle for RCA chancellor Jonny Ive. He published Jewellery Manifest Jewllery Objects Language and other Thoughts in 2019 charting ten years of his practice. Solo exhibitions have included at Gallery SO, London (2019); Dovehill Studio Galleries, (2015); AU Gallery, Glasgow (2010) and selected group exhibitions include Collect, London (2021); China International Metal Art Exhibition, Beijing (2021) and the International Biennale of Contemporarl Metal Art Metallophone, Lithuania (2020). His work is held in private and public collections internationally, including: V&A Museum London, Spencer Museum, USA, Nelson-Atkins Museum, USA, Akansas Arts Centre, USA, The Transport Museum, Glasgow, Scottish Parliament,The Goldsmiths Company,The Royal College of Art and Glasgow School of Art. He is represented by Gallery SO in London and Gallery Marzee in The Netherlands.
