John Rudge (1925 - 1971)

Biography

John Rudge (b. Northampton, England, UK - d. New York, NY, USA 1971) studied at Northampton Art School (1939-43) and, after serving in WW2 in Ceylon, Singapore, Hong Kong and India, he went to Chelsea Art School. He went to Portugal, Spain and Morocco and then he was in Rome for 11 years before going to New York in 1964. He beacme and abstract artisy who exhibited in Dusseldorf, Rome, Cologne and Washington DC as well as at the Byron Gallery, New York in 1965 and 1969. He participated in group shows with The London Group (1951), Carnegie International, Pittsbirgh (1955) Peter Stuyvesant Collection, Holland (1960) and at Betty Parsons Private Collection, Finch College Museum, New York (1968). He was bludgeoned to death at his studio in Bowery, New York.
