Georg Baldele (1968)

Biography

Georg Baldele (b. Villach, Austria 1968) studied at the College of Mechanical Engineering, Klagenfurt, Austria (1984-9), product design at the Academy of Applied Arts, Vienna (1991-6) and furniture design at the Royal College of Art, Londom, being taught by Ron Arad in both the latter schools. He is based in London and now specialises in lighting design and installations. His set of three Caveman lights (1998), made from special fire-resistant Nomex paper roll and brought up from the middle to create an adjustable, stalagmite shaped light were acquired by the Contemporary Art Society for Manchester Art Gallery in 2005.
