Frederick Lessore (1879 - 1951)

Biography

Frederck Lessore (b. Southwick, Sussex, UK 1879 - d. London 1951)  was son of the artist Jules Lessore (1849-1892) and became a sculptor as well as a painter. He studied art in Paris and London, in 1906 gaining a medal at the Royal Academy Schools. He was a member of the Art Workers’ Guild. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, London and the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool. Lessore modelled many statues and busts in England and abroad. He founded the Beaux Arts Gallery, London, which his wife, the painter Helen Lessore (1907-1994), took over after his death.
