Frederick Halford Coventry (1905 - 1997)

Biography

Frederick Halford Coventry (b. Cheltenham, New Zealand 1905 -d. 1997) studied at Elam School of Art, Auckland, Wellington Technical College (1922-26), Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney and at the Grosvenor School of Modern Art, London. He studied engraving under Ianin Macnab and several of his engravings were shown at the Twenty One Gallery, London, 1929 and 1930. He became a member of the Society of Industrial Artists in 1946 and of the Society of Mural Painters in 1947. He exhibited widely in Britain and in Australia and New Zealand, including the RA, Council of Industrial Design, and the Imperial Institute.
