Freda Sargent (1928)

Biography

Freda Sargent (b. London, UK 1928) studied painting at the Royal College of Art in London and later travelled to Paris on a French government scholarship. While in France she met the Spanish-Colombian artist Alejandro Obregón (1920-1992), with whom she went to Bogota, Colombia and became his third wife. Her career as an artist has had two stages: the first, while living in Europe, and the second in South America, where she exhibited from 1970. Her works have been shown in numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally and she is represented in the Santo Domingo Family Collection (Colombia) as well as having two paintings from the 1950s at The Wilson, Cheltenham and Tullie House, Carlisle in the UK.
