Fionna Carlisle (1954)

Biography

Fionna Carlisle (b. Wick, Caithness, Scotland, UK 1954) studied at Edinburgh College of Art (1972–6). She was granted an Andrew Grant Postgraduate Scholarship in 1976–7 and from 1978 she had a series of solo shows at 369 Gallery, Edinburgh, as well in London. From 1984, Carlisle she has spent time between Crete and Scotland. Group exhibitions have included Lord Provost’s Prize Exhibition, Gallery of Modern Art, Glasgow (1998); and Expressions: Scottish Art, Aberdeen Art Gallery and Contemporary Arts Gallery, Dundee (both 2000) and later solo exhibitions have included Archeus Fine Art (2001), sponsored by Caledonian Brewery, Edinburgh, where Carlisle had been artist-in-residence from 1999.
