Edwina Leapman (1934)

Biography

Edwina Leapman (b. Hampshire, UK 1934) studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and Central School of Arts and Crafts in London. She had her first solo show at the New Art Centre, London (1974) and has exhibited with Annely Juda Fine Art, London between 1976 and 2022. Others have included: Juda Rowan Gallery, London (1987); Galerie Judith Andreae, Bonn, Germany (2014); Galerie Konstruktiv Tendens, Stockholm, Sweden (1987 & 2002); ACP Viviane Ehrli, Zurich, Switzerland (1996 & 1998); Serpentine Gallery, London (1991); Galerie Loyse Oppenheim, Nyon, Switzerland and Galerie Artline, The Hague, The Netherlands (both 1979). Leapman has participated in multiple group shows across the UK: with The London Group (1954-6); at Young Contemporaries, Arts Council Travelling Exhibition, UK (1954); at the Signals Gallery, London (1966); Four Abstract Painters, Institute of Contemporary Arts, London; John Moores Exhibition, Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool (1972-4); The British Art Show, Travelling Exhibition: Mappin Art Gallery, Sheffield; Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne and Hatton Gallery, University of Newcastle; Arnolfini Gallery and Royal West of England Academy, Bristol (1979-80); Tolly Cobbold/Eastern Arts Third National Exhibition, Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, touring to Christchurch Mansions, Ipswich; Castle Museum, Norwich; Institute of Contemporary Arts, London; Mappin Art Gallery, Sheffield, UK (1981); The Experience of Painting - Eight Modern Artists, Arts Council travelling exhibition: Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle upon Tyne; Mappin Art Gallery, Sheffield; City Art Gallery,Stoke-on-Trent, UK (1989) and British Abstract Painting, Flowers East, London (2001) amongst others.
