Derek Roberts (1947)

Biography

Derek Roberts (b. Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, UK 1947) studied at Edinburgh College of Art (1966–71), after which he lived in the Pentland Hills. Although his work is abstract, he was inspired by the the harmony of nature around him. Roberts had a solo exhibition at New 57 Gallery in Edinburgh in 1977; others included a show at Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1988, in which Four Seasons was the theme, and exhibitions at Francis Graham-Dixon Gallery, 1990 and 1992.The Arts Council, Scottish Arts Council and Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art hold his work.
