Charles Gerrard (1892 - 1964)

Biography

Charles Gerrard (b. Antwerp, Belgium 1892 - d. Denham, Buckinghamshire, UK 1964) studied at Lancaster School of Art (1907-14), and at the Royal College of Art (1917-22) under Robert Anning Bell and Gerald Moira. He exhibited the Royal Academy, NEAC and The Redfern Gallery, London. His work appeared in The Studio and Colour magazines. Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea hold his work. Gerrard also exhibited in North America, Italy and India, where he taught for a time and was an official art adviser in Bombay as he was an expert on Indian art and iconography.
