Biography
Charles George Hamiltion Dicker (b. Ouse, near Hamilton, Tasmania 1896 - d. Wells, Somerset, UK 1977), the son of Victorian photographer Charles William Hamilton Dicker (1855-1912), was a painter and Church of England priest. After his mother’s early death, he was taken to England by his father and was brought up by two maiden aunts. He studied at Oxford University and in late 1920s at Slade School of Fine Art, where William Coldstream (1908-1987) was a close friend. He showed at the East London Group Alrx. Reid & Lefevre exhibitions, NEAC and elsewhere. Following in his fayher's footestep he was ordained in 1942 in Leicester and later became vicar of South Stoke, near Bath, in 1948, where he remained for 18 years.
