Brad Lochore (1960)

Biography

Brad Lochore (b. Wellington, New Zealand 1960) did a fine art diploma at Byam Shaw School of Art, London (1986-9); studied at Kunst Akademie in Düsseldorf, Germany (1989-90); and completed a master’s degree at Goldsmiths’ College, London, (1990–2). After studying at film and television school, for five years Lochore designed and made film-sets. At Young British Artists IV, Saatchi Gallery (1995), Lochore showed a group of large, highly atmospheric Shadow Paintings in which refined grey lines, the shadows of windows, were displayed on a white ground. The large oil on canvas Ladder Shadow was in the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition (1995-6). In 2000 Lochore contributed to the Byam School of Art 'Bugs' portfolio of 10 prints in an edition of 90 on an insect theme by different artists which was acquired by The Usher Gallery, Lincoln through the Tom Benhem bequest to the Contemporary Art Society.
