Antoni Antek de Lenval Malinowski (1955)

Biography

Antoni Antek de Lenval Malinowski (b. Warsaw, Poland 1955) studied at the Academy of Fine Art, Warsaw (1974-79) and Chelsea College of Art (1981-82), where he also taught between 1984-96. He was the drawing and colour course tutor the AA School of Architecture (2000-2019) and visiting tutor at the Slade School of Fine Art (2013-19). He has collaborated with architects and received commissions such as a large scale wall paintings at the Royal Court Theatre, London (2000); Luxor Theatre, Rotterdam (2002); Bush Theatre, London (2011 and 2013); Everyman Theatre, Liverpool (2013); Mathematical Insitute, Oxford (2015) as well as mosaics for buildings by Eric Parry (2009 and 2018).  Malinowski has participated in group shows such as Placed / Displaced (installation) at Chisenhale Gallery, London (1986); Icons, Mario Flech Gallery, London (1987); New Voices, The British Council Show, Brussels, Luxemburg, Barcelona, ValenciaTodd Gallery, London (1992); The Subject of ArtNatWest Group Art Collection, London (1997); Conversation Pieces – A View from a Window, Camden Arts Centre, London (2014); Spaces Between Things, Richard Saltoun Gallery, London (2016) and Through Which The Light Passes, Ragged School Museum, London (2021). His sol shows include at The Drawing Room, London (1986); Chisenhale Gallery, London (1987) Galerie Wilma Tolksdorf, Hamburg (1987 and 1988); Mario Flech Gallery, London (1989); Galeria Dziekanka, Warsaw (1990); Gimpel Fils, London (1995, 2002, 2004 and 2007); The Polish Connection, Dulwich Picture Gallery, London and Royal Castle, Warsaw (2009) and Oracle at Ken Artspace, London (2023).
