Anton Lock (1893 - 1971)

Biography

Born in Westminster, London and studied at Westminster School of Art 1910-12, under Walter Sickert. He then specialised in lithography at the Bolt Court School, 1912-14, working under Walter Bayes. His work mainly featured country scenes, especially working horses. He illustrated several books with outdoor and hunting scenes and exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Watercolour Society, Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Paris Salon, with one-man shows at the Leger Galleries. He lived in London. A studio sale was held at Christie's in 1979. In addition to the British Museum, his work is held by the British Council.
